Space is a fascinating thing. And it is so great to see it from up close. Thanks to the Hubble Space Telescope, we can see things in space so much better. This technical masterpiece was launched from the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1990.
Long before mankind started sending things into space, we explored things on Earth.
In 1895, Joshua Slocum was the first person to sail single-handedly around the world. He set sail from Boston in the United States aboard the sloop “Spray” and traveled an incredible 46.000 miles around our planet.
15 years after the birth of engineer and businessman Gideon Sundback (*1880), who invented the zipper. Hopefully, Joshua had some old-school way to close his clothes and stay warm at sea.
At sea, at home, or at a party, it is always a good place to have Jean Paul Gaultier (*1952) around. Or, at least one of his beautiful accessories or perfumes.
And when at a party today, raise a glass to these birthday boys: Dutch painter Willem de Kooning (*1904), American actor Jack Quaid (*1992), and British singer Ben Howard (*19867).
Celebrating good times feels nice, right?
