May 17

What happened on May 17?

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, an all-time classic already since its release in 1900.

It may be very well possible that this story, which was later turned also into a movie, inspired Dennis Hopper (*1936) to become an actor. Or, maybe it was something or someone completely different… who knows.

One thing we know for sure is that one of America’s best-known TV hosts, Bob Saget (*1956), celebrates his birthday today!
Just as much as the world knows the Wizard of Oz, we all recall Bob’s one-liners that guided us through “America’s Funniest Home Videos” for many years.

Although Craig Ferguson (*1962) never created “Scotland’s Funniest Home Videos”,
he certainly entertains millions of people around the planet and we thank him dearly.

We also thank birthday boy Horace Elgin Dodge (*1868) and his brother for founding the Dodge motor company.

Today’s most relaxed and soothing birthday party must be happening at Enya‘s (*1961) house. No voice on earth can make you relax more than hers. Whether it is in an elevator, in your local spa, or holding the line on the phone. Possibly during famous movie scene, to which she made some phenomenal movie soundtracks, too!
Composer Erik Satie (*1866) is less famous for soundtracks, but surely lightens up the day.
